DPT: Freshers Cheer As FICT Holds Classy Orientation Programme; OSPOLY

The Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (FICT) of the Daily Part-Time (DPT) Program of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, has officially Orientated a new set of students to the institution at its Orientation Program which was held on Wednesday, 10th of May, 2023.



The event which was held at the institution's Hall 4 building was graced by the ND1/ND2 students to orient them to the FICT 2022/2023 administration in a setting overseen by the institution's management.


The Director of the institution, Mr Oseni Muftau Adebayo In his Orientation address, congratulated the students. he said, “Orientation is an adaptation or accommodation to a new environment, It's a privilege that you are admitted to Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, and it is not everybody that obtained the form is granted admission therefore, I congratulate you all” 


He however urged all students to pay their school fees noting that without the payment of tuition fees, it will be difficult to write examinations in the institution. 


Furthermore, he stressed that all students should abstain from irrelevancy, indecent dressing, immoral acts and rough hairstyles that can incriminate their studentship in the institution stressing that, “Shun indecent dressing, Somebody who dresses indecently will not attract a responsible person.”


Oseni added that the students should do the right thing at the right time by completing their screening registration, attending lectures, and obtaining all the necessary receipts recommended by the institution in other to avoid problems. 


In a new development, the guest speaker of the occasion, Mr Adekunle Sikiru (Abacus)  emphasized that the student should abide by the rules and regulations guiding the affairs of students either from indecent dressing on campus, noting that if any student is found culpable will be given at least a semester break. 


In his speech, Adekunle used the ambience of the occasion which could best be depicted as significant with the figurative corporate dress by the students amid the cheers and happiness, he deliberated on the topic “Orientation, It causes and its importance”.


He stressed that the Orientation program has to do with familiarization, sensitization, and edutainment of new and existing students towards knowing each other, the environment, the society at large, and the major decision maker of the institution. 


Also, he urged the Institution's management to get their student's identification card and distributes them to them so they can be differentiated from external bodies and also be permitted into the examination hall before the incoming examination. 


However, the Faculty President, Hon. Com. Alabetutu Korede stressed that the Orientation programme held is sensational in the faculty, which aims to create a solid, favourable and supportive influence on the reality of the new students. He says “You are at the beginning of a challenging race, on where your potentials are either unleashed, buried, or left trailing the dust of others. This program aims to engage you all with the yield of our experience in this tertiary institution.”


He also encouraged the students to refrain from unnecessary activities which can put an end to their academic career adding that the faculty comrades are there to support them academically, emotionally, and a friendly ear to listen to their challenges. 


“You are about to embark on a journey that will shape the future in ways you can’t even imagine yet. Mind you, this journey is not to be embarked upon only.  There’s is a whole faculty comrades, brothers, sisters, and fellow students here to support you.” He stated. 


In the same vein, the Immediate Past (IP) Chairman of the Students Union Association (SUA) of the institution, Hon. Com. Adegbenro Afeez encouraged the students to never forget their primary purpose in the institution and to shun any irrelevant thing that can impede their success.


Moreover, freshers cheer as the newly appointed Mr, Miss FICT was Introduced officially to the students while Adeleke Ifawole Awosanmi was introduced as the Mr FICT and Omilana Folashade as Miss FICT in the ambience of the occasion.
