Mass Communication HOD: Dr Tope Abiola

The Head of the Department of Mass Communication, Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Dr Tope Abiola, has denounced all forms of extortion and issued a warning to the ND2 Daily Part-Time (DPT) students on project indiscipline.

Tope Abiola while addressing the ND2 Students in their classroom at Koko campus today, Tuesday, 16th of May, 2023, made it known that there is currently no form of extortion in the department and it will not be accepted in any way, particularly extortions connected to the student's final year project.

In an effort to start the final-year project, the HOD charged the students that it is unethical to pay any money to a lecturer to supervise a project. He also proclaimed that any kind of payment to any staff member was also outlawed.

Moreso, he cautioned the students against any form of appointment to a cyber cafe by any project supervisor. In his words, “Your final year project is suggested to be embarked and finalized by you students with the assistance of your project supervisor and also your project guide without any form of allocation to a particular cyber cafe to extort or turn your projects into a business. Do you hear me? So don’t involve in anything that will implicate you.”

He also stresses that his office is open for all students to lodge their complaints related to any instances of extortion and encouraged them to always get in connection  with him if they were having issues with their final year project.

In a similar vein, the HOD advised the students to pay their school fees and take their lectures earnestly. In his remarks, "You are at the edge of graduating from this institution, make sure you pay your school fees and do all your assignments and tests. Buy your handout, pay for your annual dues, avoid coming back next year, and Don’t miss any classes and if you unavoidably do, then copy notes, and revise the topics often and often and you will attain success in your examinations at the end of the day in Jesus name.”
