The General Secretary of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Ayinde Wasiu A. has debunked an inauthentic memo that had been circulating widely across students' various social media platforms of the institution.
This was made known today, Sunday, 13th of August, 2023 in an interview with NEB Correspondent. The Secretary expressed that the Union only released just one memo about the union meeting with the organ of the state government on Wednesday, 16th of August, 2023 which would begin by 11 AM to discuss the update on the suspension of academic activities in Osun State Polytechnic, Iree.
The inauthentic memo, which however appeared to be an official document, claimed that the union has notified the resumption of activities commencing from Monday 14th August 2023. It further outlined that all students and members of the union are enjoined to be in their various departments.
Addressing our correspondent, Ayinde categorically refuted the authenticity of the memo, labeling it as a deliberate attempt to spread misinformation and confusion among the students, the members, and the general public.
Following the ASUP general secretary’s statement, he empathized that he will launch an internal investigation to determine the origin of the inauthentic memo and identify those responsible for its creation and circulation.
According to him, “It's a lie! Nothing but blatant impersonation by traitors and enemies of egalitarian society and setting. Posterity would judge whosoever that schemed this all in the name of sabotaging my effort and dragging the office I occupy in the interim into disrepute.”
“Sincerely and honestly, their ways invented to truncate and pervert the right path of justice cannot help solve this Imbroglio.” he said
