JUST IN: “The association will not agree with the acting rector appointment, We are still on strike” - ASUP CHAIRMAN

Comrade Fatai Afolabi, the Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic's Iree chapter, has confirmed that the union is still on strike and hasn't consented to restart academic activities as some reports have suggested. 


The chairman revealed that the association is still on strike when asked about the resume that was announced by the students union government of the institution during an exclusive interview with NEB on Saturday, August 5, 2023. The chairman suggested that the words of the SUG might be what the government promised them. 


Additionally, the chairman emphasized that even if the government had started a plan to follow the guidelines of making accusations against and petitioning the dismissed rector, Dr. Tajudeen Odetayo, to which he had answered, the chosen acting rector, Mr. Kehinde Alabi, is unqualified for the position.


He further said that because the acting rector is not fully competent, the association cannot support his appointment. 


“The government has set up a committee to follow the right guideline in petitioning the suspended rector which he has replied, but the appointed acting rector isn't qualified in all ramifications”


“The announcement made by the SUG is probably what the government promised them,  the association will not agree with the acting rector appointment, we are still on strike,” he said. 


NEB had reported that the Students Union Government (SUG) of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, has communicated the continuation of all academic activities slated on 7th August, 2023 following a meeting held between the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), the Governing Council, and the State Government.

OSPOLY Mgt Directs DPT Students For Counselling, Warns Failure to Comply Attract Sanction

Ospoly Mgt Announces Disengagement of Part-Time Staff

 By: Tomiwa Obisesan The Management Of Osun state polytechnic, Iree have noticed with Dismay that a Large Percentage Of Part-Time Staff have not been coming to the Office and had been Collecting Unmerited Salaries . This was stated today Saturday, January 18,2025 through an internal memorandum signed by the school registrar Mrs. Foyinsade O. Apara . Furthermore, management had decided to disengage all Part-Time/Contract staff members with effect from Friday, 31st January, 2025 . However, the memo informed all disengaged Part-Time /Contract staff members who are willing to continue with the institution to re-apply through their Head of Department (HOD)/ Head of Unit , (HOU), who in addition would recommend such member of Staff if found . “ Application for Re-Engagement with recommendation letter from HOD/HOU are to be directed to the Registrar and submitted to the Personnel Affairs Office on or before the close of work on Wednesday, 29th January,2025.” the memo noted
