“Suspended Academic Activities Should Resume with Immediate Effect”-OSPOLY ASUP

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP), Iree chapter In a congress held today, Wednesday, August 23, 2023, has reached a decision to promptly resume the institution's suspended academic activities with immediate effect.
This was contained in a memo released by the union General Secretary, Ayinde Wasiu A., Following the congress, the Union issued a 21-day ultimatum to the government, emphasizing the need for prompt action in establishing a fully constituted Governing Council for Osun State Polytechnic, Iree.
However, the association urged the government to issue a letter of confirmation to sought for the Deputy Rector-Elect emphasizing the importance while expecting a quick reaction from the government within the given timeframe.

“At the Emergency Congress of our great Union, ASUP Iree Chapter, today, Wednesday, 23rd August 2023, it was unanimously agreed as follows:”
“1. That the ongoing suspended academic activities be resumed with immediate effect;”
“2. That a 21-day Ultimatum should be given to Osun State Government to:”
“i. Constitute properly Governing Council of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree.”
“ii. Issue a Letter of Confirmation to the Deputy Rector- Elect.”
“3. Thank you.”
It will be recalled that the Union went on strike on Tuesday, July 26, 2023, following the government suspension of Dr. Tajudeen Odetayo as the Rector of the Institution and the replacement of Mr Alabi as the acting rector of the institution.
The Union in their protest stated that the suspension of the rector was unconstitutional, revealing that the appointed acting rector wasn't worthy of assuming the position.
