The Head of the Department of Mass Communication at Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Dr Tope Abiola has extended congratulations to the outgoing members of the NAMACOS Editorial Board (NEB), urging all Students to leverage their education as a means to achieve success in life.
During his address at the Handing Over Program of the NAMACOS Editorial Board (NEB), a wing of the National Association of Mass Communication Students (NAMACOS) at the institution today, October 16th, 2023, he underscored the significance of education in today's world.
However, the Dr made a poignant observation, emphasizing that all students should uphold good character. He expressed his concern about seeing headlines in the media about a student from the Mass Communication Department being involved in acts of violence or robbery, stating that such news would deeply sadden him.
“I should be proud of you as our product because we won't be happy and nobody among us will be glad reading in the media about somebody's tales or somebody killed claiming to be a product of mass communication in this school. But I will be proud to see you as my pride recording one success or the other as a member of the House of the Assembly or a commissioner. It's then that our mind can pray for you.” he said.
Also, he emphasized the importance of students fostering meaningful connections with each other, highlighting that one never knows who might offer assistance in the future. He urged them to utilize their class platform as a means to collaborate and prepare effectively for their upcoming examinations.
In the same vein, he fervently encouraged all HND2 students to steer clear of any misconduct that could lead to the termination of their academic journey at the institution.
“Shun all forms of iniquity that can abort your success in the school” he stressed.
