REGRETTING THE PAST
By: Emmanuel Olaoye
Have you ever wondered why the windscreen of your car is bigger than the rear mirror?
In a country where wealth is debatable and death becomes inevitable, your philosophy as an individual evolves careful selection of the ways to follow guidelines to define future ambition because, where you are going is more important than where you are coming from, looking at the rear mirror would result in various injuries and accidents. Although the rear mirror has its importance, the main focus is where you are going, just as a driver looks at the rear mirror before making a new move so also is our past.
Our past is a bucket full of experiences and lessons that can help us not to repeat the same mistakes we made that hurt us. A lot of people have neglected the importance of their past or the fact that they cannot return to their past, which is a serious factor preventing us from being great.
Dwelling in the past will only result in depression, frustration, and a lot of emotional trauma. The past is gone but the future encloses before us and we desire to be blessed with many more good things.
A biblical allusion to the book of Philippians chapters 3v13-14 teaches that we should not regret our experience or live in the past but one I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead. The sooner we start working on the future, the more will be able to accomplish in life.
Therefore, the past has become a clockwise direction to the present which granted us the uniqueness of not falling into the same pit that pulled many people behind, the only way in which you can achieve the dream you propose to acquire is by turning your past into a sand of upliftment and ensure that whatever you admire to achieve is prioritized.
