REPORTER’s DIARY: Honoring the Legacy of EDM Samuel Iyiola; NEB Former Editor-in-Chief

In today's technical world, Journalism has become a valuable pillar of any society, serving as a bridge between truth and the public. Today, we acknowledged an exceptional student journalist and a special orator, who made an indelible mark on the field of journalism through his unwavering commitment to truth, integrity, and the pursuit of justice. One such inspiring individual who embodies this spirit of versatility and lifelong learning is Mr. Samuel Iyiola, a former Editor-In-Chief of the NAMACOS Editorial Board (NEB), Daily Part-Time program, at Osun State Polytechnic, Iree. 


His journey from the world of education to the realm of journalism is a testament to the power of adaptability and the pursuit of personal fulfillment. Worthy of note; Throughout his National Diploma in the institution, Mr Samuel has demonstrated an exceptional ability to unearth hidden truths and give voice to the voiceless. His articles were marked by meticulous research and balanced reporting. He also possessed an uncanny ability to connect with people from all walks of life, allowing them to tell stories that resonated with audiences on a profound level.


However, during his tenor in the field of Mass Communication, he began to feel a desire for a new challenge. He yearned for a more direct impact on people's lives and sought a way to share his knowledge and experience with others. He dedicated time and effort to ensure that his junior students became more professional than him. 


Recognizing his passion for education and the joy of imparting knowledge, he made the bold decision to tutor evening courses at A.C grammar school, plastona for the ND1 students by breaking the complex courses for easy understanding while depriving himself of conveniences. His efforts and charisma move allowed his students to influence their expertise while helping them broaden their horizons and achieve their goals.


Without further ado, Samuel's impact on the Board “NEB”  of journalism at the Koko campus cannot be overstated. On 7th October, 2023, he handed over to the incumbent Editor-In-Chief of the board, EDM Boluwaji Daso along with 24 executives. His courageous reporting not only brought about significant change but also inspired a new generation of student journalists to follow in his footsteps. reminding them of the importance of speaking truth to power and holding those in authority accountable.
