UPDATE: Disappointment As Mgt Reportedly Denies DPT Celebrating Students’ Entrance to Campus for ‘Back to School’ Party

In what was supposed to be a day of excitement and joy for students of the Daily Part-Time (DPT) program, Wing of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, has turned into disappointment and frustration as the students were denied entrance to students' vicinity to celebrate their "Back to School" party today, 8th October 2023.
According to reports, the students who had organized the party were denied access to the school premises by the school management, who had put measures in place to ensure the safety of all students in reaction to the dispute that emerged at the school premises during the Students Union Association (SUA) Debate competition yesterday, Tuesday, 7th October 2023, which was canceled by the Directorate Affairs Officer (DAO) of the institution for safety reasons.
Moreover, the decision to deny entrance to the celebrants was met with mixed reactions from celebrating students and well-wishers who had accompanied their wards to the school. While some expressed disappointment at the turn of events, others commended the school management for prioritizing the safety of the students.
Speaking to reporters, the Chairman of the Student Union Association (SUA) of the institution, Hon. Com. Ojewale Kehinde explained that the decision to deny entrance to the celebrants was not a punitive measure, but rather a precautionary one. She added that the school management had received intelligence reports and had taken steps to ensure the safety of all students.
In a similar vein, she stressed that the safety and security of the students is their top priority, and will not compromise on that. Noting that the administration understood the disappointment of the celebrants and their well-wishers, but had to make a difficult decision to ensure the safety of everyone
In a conversation with a security guard in the institution, stressed that other students who were not part of the celebration were allowed access to the school premises and were seen in their various lecture rooms receiving lectures.
At the time of this report, some of the celebrants had vacated the school vicinity and returned to their various places for further celebration. Also, celebrating students have been advised to remain calm and cooperate with the school management in its efforts to ensure the safety of the students.
