It was a devastating day for the students of the Department of Mass Communication at Osun State Polytechnic, Iree. They received heartbreaking news about the untimely death of Comr. EDM Olatona Olanrewaju Olaide, also known as LARRY. As the newly appointed NAMACOS financial secretary and former Governor of stream B, his loss has left everyone in mourning.

According to the account of DPT NAMACOS president, Comr. EDM Adegbite Jeremiah, who was present at the burial, the tragic accident occurred on the Ikirun road around 9pm on the 15th of April, 2024. Larry was returning from Osogbo to Iree when the bike he was riding collided with a trailer. Sadly, Larry did not survive the accident and was laid to rest today at his family house in Ikirun.

The news of Larry's passing has sent shockwaves through the student community, leaving many in disbelief. The campus is filled with sorrow as students mourn the loss of their friend and colleague. Tears are being shed as they come to terms with the sudden absence of someone who was an integral part of their lives.

It's truly heart-wrenching to hear the words of sorrow and disbelief from the students who knew Larry so well. One person expressed their shock, struggling to find the right words to say goodbye. They described the pain of realizing they won't be able to see Larry again and how they'll always cherish the moments they shared together. Another person lamented how Larry had promised they would be friends forever, feeling the weight of his absence. And yet another person mentioned Larry's plans to find a sales girl for his place, highlighting the unexpectedness of his departure.

A close friend echoed the disbelief, unable to accept that this is the reality they now face. They expressed their hope that Larry was only joking and that he shouldn't have left so soon. Before his passing, Larry held an important position as an NEB executive, serving as the NEB ND2 Correspondence. The NEB executives, from the Editor in Chief to the NEB PRO, have also reached out to the entire mass communication student body and Larry's family to offer their condolences and support during this difficult time.

The pain and sadness that fills the hearts of the students and the NEB executives are shared by all who knew Larry. It's a testament to the impact he had on those around him and the memories they will forever hold dear. May Larry's gentle soul rest in perfect peace, and may his loved ones find solace in the cherished moments they shared together.

Olatona Olanrewaju Olaide Folarin continues to rest in the loving embrace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
