The Godfather Syndrome: How Powerful Interests Hijack Executive Selections

Image
By: Ezekiel Ademola In the hallowed halls of academia, a subtle yet pervasive force has taken hold, threatening to undermine the very foundations of democracy. Godfatherism, a system where powerful individuals wield influence over executive selections, has become a scourge on many institutions of higher learning. This phenomenon is not unique to any particular institution or region. Rather, it is a nationwide problem that requires urgent attention. When powerful interests hijack executive selections, the consequences are far-reaching. It leads to a lack of accountability, corruption, and mismanagement of resources. The godfathers, often influential alumni, politicians, or business leaders, use their wealth, connections, and influence to manipulate the selection process. PEOM: WHEN WILL IT BE WELL?

Image
By: Tomiwa Obisesan When will it be well, when will we be free? From the pain we hide, from the tears we can't see? In darkness, we search for a light, A glimmer of hope, a beacon in flight. When will it be well? The world can be cold, But still, we hold on, till a new day unfolds. The sun shines bright, and our hearts find a way, To survive, thrive, smile in the brighter day. When will our hearts heal, and our tears turn to joy? The answer whispers, "Hope will employ." Let's hold on to love, and share it with glee, For when we come together, our hearts will be free. In the end, we'll cheer up, and dance with delight, Like David, our spirits will take flight. Let's hold on to hope, and never give up the quest, For a brighter tomorrow, where love will be the best.
