OSPOLY Management Suspends FYB and SUA Week Over Security Concerns

 By: Israel Asani

The Management of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, has announced the suspension of all activities relating to the Final Year Brethren (FYB) and Students’ Association Week, citing security concerns.

In a directive issued to Daily Part-Time students, the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Tope Abiola, stated that programmes such as quiz competitions, debates, and other events scheduled for the week are suspended “forthwith for security reasons.”

The decision follows a series of security reports received by the institution. It would be recalled that the Polytechnic Management had earlier, through a memo signed by the Registrar, proscribed the celebration of FYB and other student fiestas within the school.

However, Dr. Abiola warned that any student found engaging in such celebrations, whether on campus or off-campus, would face disciplinary action.

In addition The notice was copied to the Director of Part-Time Programmes, Deputy Directors, Directorate Officer (PT), Chairman of the Students’ Union Association (SUA), and the President of the Students’ Union Government (SUG).
